I discovered Tavernpointe a few months ago while searching for an after-work happy hour spot with a friend. Upon my first visit, I was shocked I hadn’t been before – it’s located just down the street from my Midtown office, and has a diverse menu packed with local ingredients in unique conjunction with South American flavors.
During my initial trip, I had the sea scallops with a pineapple pico (pictured below from my Instagram) – super delicious, healthy, and full of color and flavor!
Tavernpointe recently started hosting more special events and dinners in their beautiful space, including their 5 course beer pairing dinner with Jekyll Brewing.
Located in Alpharetta (and their first brewery!), Jekyll is renowned for their spectrum of beers available year round, from brown ales and IPAs to a German-style kolsch. Lead by Co-owner & Brew Master Josh Rachel, Jekyll Brewing won the title of Best New Brewery in the South in 2013, a massive honor considering the hundreds of breweries that have popped up in the Southeast in recent years.
For Tavernpointe’s beer pairing dinner with Jekyll, Rachel and Chef Sid Blackwell collaborated on an end-of-summer menu packed with local, seasonal dishes to complement a variety of styles of beer. Take a peek at the menu below:
The firecracker chicken – so crispy, with that beautiful bleu cheese mousse pictured at right!
A light, fresh arugula rocket salad with a zesty ginger dressing and more whipped cheese (this time goat!)
One of my favorite dishes of the night – a perfect scallop over a huge bed of brown butter toasted farro
The most unique plate of the night – chicken meatballs with a zesty African spiced sauce
Always my favorite part of the evening – dessert! This 3 way chocolate dessert was stunning, and just as tasty as it looks!
Tavernpointe’s event space holds up to 60, and features its own private bar. It’s the perfect place for a wedding shower, engagement party, or even to host your own beer pairing dinner! Even if you don’t have a special event coming up, I highly recommend that you Tavernpointe to your must-try Atlanta food list (I know that you have one!)
