While I primarily focus on the best of Atlanta’s food scene on ATL Adventurer, I love to branch out and cover activities like hiking, live music, and events going on in Atlanta. I was so thrilled to recently attend my first blogger fitness event at Atmasphere, a brand-new fitness studio in Buckhead, for a fun workout with a few old and some new friends!
Atmasphere combines yoga, cycling, and meditation to bring you a studio that provides both a great physical and mental workout. The studio has the most tranquil atmosphere (no pun intended!) that I’ve ever encountered – it feels like a lush, relaxing spa. There are no cold, sterile elements of this studio – around every corner, there are delicate details, warm lighting, and plenty to keep you feeling both peaceful and motivated.
During the event, Atmasphere walked us through three, 20-minute previews of their most popular classes.
We started with a meditation practice to set the tone for the workout – the ceiling of the small room twinkled with stars like we were inside of a constellation. This session used Sound Off headphones that when activated, let in no sound, but allow the instructor to speak directly to you through the speakers. This was my first time doing real meditation, and our instructor Claudi helped the newbie meditators get our minds in the right place for the next 40 minutes of intense workouts.
Next, our class moved into a vinyasa yoga flow in one of the spaceship-like studios, led by instructor Lisa. This class combined a few sun salutations mixed with free weights for upper-body toning. While our experience was not a hot yoga class (the temperature was turned up just a bit to help with muscle movement), Atmasphere does offer both types of classes (hot, not hot) depending on your preference.
Our class finished with a 20-minute cycling session – undoubtedly the sweatiest portion of the event! I loved the energy of the cycle class, with flashing lights and high energy that was never intimidating but always fun.
The Atmasphere staff was super welcoming and friendly – it was my first time trying spin (which was a little scary!) but spin instructor Amy made me feel totally at ease. She seated me at the front of the class, showed me how to hook in to my bike, and checked in with me throughout class to make sure I was still chugging along!
I loved everything about Atmasphere -the aesthetics and decor, the upbeat, positive staff, and the beautiful facilities. I can’t wait to go back and try some more classes – let me know if you want to join!
