Last week I ventured to downtown Roswell for La Famiglia Italian Wine Dinner, hosted at Roswell Provisions. The dinner, part 2 in a series of themed Community Chef Table dinners, featured a traditional family-style Italian menu with wine pairings.

Let me be the first to say that I don’t often willingly cross the Perimeter during the week, and I was hesitant to drive to Roswell from Midtown on a rainy Wednesday. Although I know there are plenty of great restaurants and shops in the suburbs, there’s a certain stigma that results from living in the heart of metro Atlanta that’s prevented me from exploring much of what can be found OTP.

When I pulled up to Canton Street and spotted Roswell Provisions, I couldn’t believe how charming it was – and how worth the drive. Canton Street is at the epicenter of downtown Roswell, populated by boutiques, galleries, and quaint local restaurants with outdoor seating. It’s a bit chilly now, but I can imagine myself sitting on a sunny patio with friends for a weekend lunch, or strolling through the streets peeking into the pretty shops along Canton Street on a lazy Saturday.

Roswell Provisions is both a retail space (the downstairs shop, with wine, cheese, and a coffee bar, is straight out of a chic French market) and rustic upstairs event space and restaurant called Le Bistro. The restaurant at Le Bistro serves lunch 7 days a week, as well as Saturday dinner, with a diverse menu filled with sandwiches, crepes, and quiches. Le Bistro also hosts parties for every occasion, from rehearsal dinners to bat mitzvahs, and curates wine tastings twice per week through their Wine and Social Club.

Le Bistro was also the scene for the Italian Wine Dinner, prepared by local chef Mix McCrory. The meal featured a variety of tasty classics served family-style, including wine pairings for each of the courses. Take a look at some of the photos from the space, as well as from the delicious meal!

The entire evening was slow and relaxed, full of food, wine, and conversation. I’m looking forward to a return visit to Roswell Provisions, as well as a chance to explore more of downtown Roswell!
