Who doesn’t love a good glass of wine?! There are plenty of spots in Atlanta to enjoy some vino, but sometimes you want to get right to the source.
Château Élan is a beautiful vineyard and resort just 40 minutes northeast of Atlanta. The winery is the most awarded on the East coast, winning over 220 awards in the last 3 years. Over the last 14 years, Château Élan has added on an inn, spa, golf course, and multiple restaurants to make this 3,500 acre property a true luxury destination in North Georgia.
The Vineyard’s History
The property has a fascinating history – Château Élan initially started making wine in 1982, but struggled to grow European varietals in the warm Georgia climate. In 2012, renowned winemaker Simone Bergese joined the Château Élan team, and completely transformed the wine program to focus on growing muscadine grapes which are native to the Southeast.
Since Bergese’s arrival, Château Élan has become highly decorated and respected for their wine. Growing and producing 2 varieties of muscadines on-site, as well as sourcing grapes from northern California, the vineyard offers almost 30 different wines rotating on a seasonal basis.
Plan Your Visit
Château Élan is about 40 minutes northeast of Atlanta – it’s a pretty easy drive up 85 from most parts of the city. The vineyard can get crowded on the weekends, especially with weddings and events, so keep that in mind as you plan your time here! Plenty of free and valet parking is available once you arrive.
If you want to spend your time at the winery, tours are available each day of the week, with more availability Friday – Sunday (tours do run twice a day during the week!) Public tours are just $5 per person, with more personalized, private tours available starting at just $25 per person. The winery just opened up a brand new, gorgeous tasting room last week, so now is the perfect time to visit!
The best deal at Château Élan is their $25 tasting package – you’ll get 8 wine tastings, as well as an optional winery tour. Definitely your best bet for a date night or girls trip!
The property also has plenty of options for dining if you’re feeling a little hungry post wine tasting. There are a whopping 7 restaurants to choose from, ranging from Mediterranean to a classic Irish pub. For my next trip to Château Élan, I plan on taking a cooking class, offered weekly at the Culinary Studio in the winery.
If you’re looking to extend your stay, plan on staying at the quaint inn on property, or choose from the private villas for a VIP experience (perfect for a bachelorette party or girls weekend). Don’t forget about the 63 holes of championship golf – this place truly has it all!
The Girls Just Wanna Have Wine Package includes a stay at one of the villas, lunch & dinner for two at a few of the on-site restaurants, wine tastings, and massages at the spa. You can book this amazing luxury experience here – it’s definitely on my bucket list.
